Let Us Quickly Get To Our Expert’s Point Of View.

Question 1- How do you keep up with the latest updates and developments in the Microsoft ecosystem?

The Microsoft ecosystem is definitely the fastest-paced, ever-changing environment I have worked in. The product develops daily, so to keep up, so should you.

For me, the easiest way is social media. It takes some time and cares upfront to build the right network. You need to invest time and effort in pinpointing what your sphere of interest is and find the experts in the field and follow them.

If you are still figuring out where to start, the MVPs in the area are a good starting point; then, you can follow the people they are following. After that, it all gets really easy. The Microsoft community is vibrant, vocal, and active, so finding the right people saves you time and filters out the noise.

Question 2: What are some opportunities you would be looking at this year?

This year for me, is all about breadth. All about diversifying and expanding my knowledge of the Microsoft portfolio and, more specifically, the peripherals to the Dynamics 365 core. The last few years were all about depth, and I really took care to become a subject matter expert in Dynamics 365 Marketing, Sales, and Customer Service, which is core to my current role.

Now, I want to work on the breadth and improve my understanding of topics like RPA (robotic process automation), security, and Azure.

Question 3: How do you see the future of Microsoft evolving, and how do you plan to stay ahead of the curve?

Recently Microsoft has been moving away from a product-centric message and into an industry-tailored conversation. This is important when building rapport and credibility with your customer. Knowing the product and its techy ins and outs is not even enough anymore. You need to understand their language, their pain point, and the environment they are operating in.

On top of deep product knowledge, I have invested some time in getting familiar with the healthcare vertical to stay ahead of the curve. It is core to my current role.

I am also in the process of obtaining my Microsoft certified trainer certification ( MCT). Teaching and communicating simply what you know can give you the edge when working with end and business users.

Question 4: What are your favorite Microsoft Dynamics 365 products or services, and why?

My favorite Dynamics product is the one that solves an issue or a pain point for a customer because, in the end, that's all that matters, isn't it?

Joking aside, if I had to pick a single product, I would say my heart lies with Dynamics 365 Marketing. I got involved with that product from its very early days, so we evolved together.

Question 5: What are your favorite Microsoft Dynamics 365 products or services, and why?

Every day is a fresh opportunity to develop your personal brand. Do it.

The Microsoft community is very close, and even when it's a big world out there, it is simultaneously minimal. Being mindful of how you are perceived in the community is vital.

So get networking and get learning. The easiest way to learn is to learn "in public." Share an idea, speak at events, write a blog, start a conversation, and invite others to challenge you, contribute, and develop your ideas. Go and be out there. And have fun as you are doing it.

What is the best event that you attended recently? What were your key takeaways?

My three favorite events are the Scottish Summit (usually happening in Glasgow in the spring) and South Coast Summit (usually in Southampton in the autumn).

And, of course, the user group a bunch of friends and I are running is called the Customer Experience user group. You can go ahead and check it out. Our events are all virtual and happen last Monday of each month. LinkedIn link here and sign up form here.
